What is Health Literacy?
The definition of health literacy was updated in August 2020 with the release of the U.S. government’s Healthy People 2030 initiative. The update addresses personal health literacy and organizational health literacy.

Health literacy is about how people understand information about health and health care, and how they apply that information to their lives, use it to make decisions and act on it.
Two aspects of health literacy
The Commission separates health literacy into two parts - individual health literacy and the health literacy environment.
National Population Health Survey 2018/19
The National Population Health Survey (NPHS) report 2019 is an annual population health survey series jointly conducted by the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Health Promotion Board (HPB). It tracked the health and risk factors, as well as lifestyle practices of Singapore residents for the period of 31 August 2018 to 31 July 2019.
Health Literacy (What is it and why is it important)
Health literacy relates to how people access, understand and use health information in ways that benefit their health. People with low health literacy are at higher risk of worse health outcomes and poorer health behaviours.
